The trendy and multicultural city of Zurich, located in the German speaking part of Switzerland, has stolen our hearts.
Either by plane, car or train Zurich is very easy to reach… and yes… we have travelled to Zurich by all means of transportation!
So if you are wondering what to visit in Zurich, you have come to the right place, as we know just the best spots in Zurich.
The main station or Zurich Hauptbahnhof is an enormous place, it really makes you feel like if you were at a small airport. Zurich Station is a great to leave your bags at, as they are multiple lockers inside for you to choose the best size. The station even has showers, so you can even take a shower there! And if you do not need to use any of these services, just visit the station, as the site is a must!
Moving by tram, taxi, Uber or simply walking, it is very easy to move around Zurich! But, our favorite one is just to really stroll around Zurich’s amazing streets.
Bahnhofstrasse (Bahnhof Street)
Just a few steps away from the station you will find the glamourus Bahnhofstrasse or Bahnhof Street, home to most of the big exclusive brands, boutiques, restaurants and hotels. Bahnhofstrasse has a unique architecture with a perfect Swiss touch that makes it gorgeous. It is known to be one of the most expensive streets in the world per square meter.
A fantastic way to spend time in Bahnhofstrasse is to go to one of the high floor terraces located along the street.
In Bahnhofstrasse you can find one of the best hand crafted Swiss chocolates in Switzerland… if not the best, Sprüngli!
In Sprüngli Chocolaterie you can not only enjoy the best Swiss chocolate in Zurich, but also the tastiest and best Swiss muesli! And in case you did not know it, muesli was actually invented in Zurich! And Sprüngli happens to have the most delicious one! They usually have different flavors of it and they also offer natural muesli. We love the cherry muesli, which has actual cherries in it, it is simply to take your taste buds to fruit heaven!
If you continue walking through Bahnhof street, you will see the magnificent Lake Zurich, where you get to see the Swiss Alps, an amazing view!
Swiss National Museum
Even if you are not a big fan of museums, you should not miss the chance to admire the gorgeous architecture of the Swiss National Museum.
Get lost in Lindenhof! It is the perfect spot to take the best pictures of the Lake Limmat.
There is a lot to see in the city, but if you are a soccer lover make sure not to miss the FIFA Museum! Three entire floors exhibiting the history of football soccer.
If you are travelling with kids, we recomend you to explore the Zurich Zoo, it is worth a visit.
Zurich Old Town
Zurich’s old town is just fantastic! It is a great place to have a nice stroll, see the different buildings and houses, wonder in the shops, or even stop for a drink, in its multiple bars. It is also the newest and trendiest place is Zurich-West. Fun and stylish! The trendiest restaurants are opening its doors in here, make sure it is on your list to visit.
Grossmunster is a unique Romanesque church, it is one of Zurich’s most visited places. Under the towers of the church, you can find the Niederdorf neighborhood, which is famous among Zurich locals.
Best restaurant in Zurich
We definitely recommend Raclette Stube. The must try dish here is the typical and famous Swiss cheese fondue which comes with bread, potatoes, pickles and onions… and you can even ask for pear and pineapple to go along with it! It is simply mind blowing!
Another main dish of Raclette Stubbe is of course the Swiss Raclette, which is melted Swiss cheese with potatoes, pickles and onions on the side, it is just delicious. You can order one portion of it, three portions, or if you really want to experience it all, you can even order the all you can eat raclette!
For dessert the Meringe with gruyer cheese sauce is simply yummy!
